Here we have a historical sensation! Sergei Gorbenko, Director of Lvov Institute of Anthropology, after some thorough studies conducted in the table-tomb of the Valois dynasty in the French city of Orleans where he was at the invitation of French authorities, made a striking statement that he could tell the world who was the French national heroine Joan of Arc in reality. Well, as Mr Gorbenko says, it was Margaret of Valois, Charles VI’s daughter born out of wedlock.
Well, the statement is indeed sensational, but is it really so important who she was? What she was and is for France and the French is beyond any dispute – the nation owes her a debt of gratitude for independence. Even if Gorbenko’s statement is true, it cannot change anything.
